Brainstorming

RISE: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q9AKdUT8nyg&feature=youtu.be
The camera angles fit perfectly with the large amount of physical activity that was portrayed, you can really tell that they carefully picked out each angle and took their time with each shot. The music also fits the opening very well as it was very upbeat and energetic, It was also dimed at the right moments and was never too overpowering. The closeups of the characters at the end was a great way to end with suspense.

OFFLINE: https://drive.google.com/file/d/12JR0FpGIpYlH4Mol6OUnwVFk7NnB4Tj_/view
The way the production’s names were presented was very creative. The bouncing back and forth from the cage and the daily actives was a great way to show the massive differences between the two tones. A back screen or even a pause before the shaking or the cage could have helped dramatized the ending.

DEAR LOVER: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O_bKQDg6fiI&feature=youtu.be
The title should have been boulder or even saved until the end. The effects of lunas’ description helped the viewer understand what was going through the main character’s mind. Different angles should have been used when the character was talking to the camera directly.

DARE TO THRILL: https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=4&v=nYpjHCwRO6Q
The transitions used for the title had a great effect, along with the correlation between the shift of camera positions with action and background music. The viewer was definitely left in suspense as the music was lowered, the coffin was revealed, and the expressions of the man were dramatized

ALWAYS WATCHING: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g-yrsmQS7bo&feature=youtu.be
The music went well with the tone but it was too overpowering at times. The mirror shot was a great way to portray how the main character felt. After the character said well there should have been a slight pause to stop the film from stopping so abruptly.

THE BLUE BOAR: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xvMH-1XdR9c
The costumes played a huge role in the film as they showed the conservative environment that the main character is trying to escape. I thought the use of the main character’s narrative and singing was a great alternative to copyright free music. The transition to the last scene to the title slide was done very nicely. The viewer was left in suspense as they still don’t know how the “blue boar” plays a part in the girl’s life.

WHITE COAT: https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=2&v=dvAsmo32uo0
The effects of the entire film were very good. I really liked how the fog was incorporated throughout the film and the way the music added emotion. The way they used close-ups of the victim and chemicals really helped with warning the viewers that the individual in the space is being experimented on and causing them to want to watch more.

STALKER: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FxIZJKdc-Sw&feature=youtu.be
The camera work was a little shaky at the start. The title of the opening should have been placed somewhere different like right after the car scene. The expressions of the actress helped generate the eerie tone that the film needed. It definitely left the viewer in suspense

NOSTALGIA: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1p8azlLRHyqaShaOJC6SBJwzGx7s9Cjpk/view
I liked how the production’s name and movie title was very subtle. The music correlated very well with the pictures and movent of the actors. I do think that the transition between the older and younger character could have either been cleaner or different.

LOST AND FOUND: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sQ0Gs04-22c
Throughout the entire, there seemed to be an aspect missing. Yes, it did leave the viewer with questions like “what was he late for?” or even “what was she waiting on?” but it didn’t have the extra element of causing us to want to view more of it. Personally, I didn’t really like their use of transitions for the production’s name and title and also thought the names of the actors took up too much of the screen causing it to be overwhelming.

Our Final Thoughts:
After watching several film openings, my group and I decided to change our genre from an action/adventure film to a detective/suspense driven film. We plan to endorse the elements of the Stalker, Offline, and White Coat openings. We would also like to keep Rise in mind when editing the music to our opening as it had smooth audio transitions. All in all, my group is more than excited to create our original detective/suspense driven film opening.
